My Village Festival

The people of Niebee, Shungkhar, Darling, Rawabee, and Menjabee are celebrating once in a blue moon festival at Kecebee lhakhang, normally we called it (HAA).

It falls on 18th August of lunar calender. Peoples of above village celebrates with full of sarcastic smile on face and as well as with delicious food, not only but also people wear their best gho and kira.

This is one of the awaited festival to thank (Gonpo and Gonmo) in general it signifies deities Pel Yeshi Gonpo and Pelden Lhamo and other local deities for their unlimited and unwavering blessing in any circumstances. On that day, peoples normally exchange their dedication and happiness among them. They dance and some plays different games, such as (Jantey Dhoo) the Lagow Lagow etc.

One of the unforgettable thing on that day is, boys carry some bowls of (Boma) which is made from rice and goes near girl, by sudden attack to rub on their cheek. When i think of my childhood days, i found it roar with laughter. Second day, we called it Lanchen. On that day, we used to celebrates at ones village. 

Whereas in case of Niebee people, we gather at ancestor famous place called Gang Golong, the proprietor (Aum Wangda Pelmo) popularly known as Ayei Toeka's house. People gathered there and enjoy the day with love ones, dancing, and with local alcohol. 

Third day, we called it Lanbar. On that day, people gathere there and celebrate exactly second day's programme. Fourth day, we called it Lanchung. On that day, people normally take rest and some interested ones will gather at famous place gang golong. Whereas some are busy taking out their one year gift from local alcohol at different places. By doing such amazing, they happily closed the annual festival by singing Lo Do Chi Gawa Sangphey Jewai Menlom Zhuu Zer.
